Walk 1 – Read Genesis chapters 1 and 2. The Theme is: The Creation of a very good cosmos!

God the Father is the Creator with God the Word and God the Holy Spirit all involved in the first three verses. Do not be confused by the many voices of doubt and fear that try to explain the impossibility of creating in six 24 hour periods as the scripture plainly tells us. Also, do not be concerned with those who will say that science proclaims the truth; while the Bible proclaims a way of faith. It actually takes more faith to believe what science teaches unless it is based on scripture.

To put it another way; if one starts from the basis of believing the narrative of scripture; the findings of science fit very nicely into that story. On the other hand, if one starts by believing the story of science; doubt is cast upon the narrative of the Bible.

One example may be sufficient to illustrate my meaning. Fossils are found in layers of rock laid down by water. One theory of science is that these layers were laid down over millions of years. Therefore, each layer has certain fossils in that particular layer corresponding to a certain age of the fossil record. This leads to the necessity to employ what is called circular reasoning to identify fossils in certain layers.

The reasoning is:

A certain layer of rock is from a certain age because it contains such and such fossils. On the other hand, such and such fossils must come from a certain age because they are in that layer.

If one were to accept the Biblical narrative it is not necessary to explain the fossil record by believing it was laid down over millions of years. Reading a little further from the beginning passages; we find that the great world-wide flood at the time of Noah explains quite nicely the fossil record in layers of rock laid down by water.

The real narrative of Creation is not about six days or millions of years; although I choose to believe the Biblical story. The real story is that we are created in the image of God, living spirits. We are made because God overflows with love and wanted someone more to love. God created man and woman and had many years of fellowship with them in the Garden of Eden. If you don’t think it was many years; think about how long it would take for Adam to name all the creatures.

Jesus quoted from Genesis when asked about divorce:

“In the beginning it was not so, ‘For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and they will become one flesh.’”

Jesus believed it and based His life on it; He authorized us to do the same.
